Thank You LaughterBoss
Thank you LaughterBoss
Hi Dr Spitzer....
I wanted to be able to thank you so much for allowing this aged care facility to take part in your wonderful program. You have been visiting with my darling mum Louise. It has been such a wonderful program & a joy to see the smiles on all those residents lucky enough to have taken part. Sue (Laughter Boss) is dong a wonderful job in the role she has been given & she is enjoying it too. I certainly hope that other aged care facilities gain the information so as that a lot more residents may become involved throughout Australia. Thank you so much for the time that you give & whilst I know that you thoroughly enjoy doing it, it certainly makes sense to introduce a program like this when we all know that it has worked for sick children. Laughter certainly is the best medicine & even though a lot of the elderly residents who may be suffering with dementia would not remember what they had done, it's a matter of living in the moment that makes all the difference.
We are very fortunate to still have mum who is 96 this year & that most of all she still has her wonderful sense of humour. I was talking to Sue the other day & telling her that I truly believe that mum is far more involved with our conversations & in particular have noticed that she is interacting & making comments with me & my 3 year old grandson. As an example, when he told her that he was playing soccer she told him that he was too little because her boy did not play until he was about 7 & then when he was playing ball with me she told him to be very careful as if he threw it too hard he would hit my glasses & break them. She has not had any lengthy conversations with any of us for about 7 years or more. I find also that she is not sleeping as much during the day & that when Sue comes into the room they always have a laugh. I am so glad that I was approached for mum to take part & would be more than happy to share this experience with anyone who may be wondering if it is worthwhile to give them the positive responses that we have had from our dearest mum.
Once again Many many thanks
Regards
Bev (Louise's daughter)
Sue (Louise's Grandaughter) Kevin (Louise's grandson)
